The 1440p OLED gaming monitor era has arrived. The Alienware 34 QD-OLED (AW3423DW), one of the first OLED screens featuring Quantum Dot technology, was unveiled in 2017. For good reason, curved monitors have finally established themselves in the gaming monitor market. A nice curved monitor enhances the experience rather than detracting from it, making shooters and simulation games benefit the most from a more immersive environment. The screen experience is more engulfing the tighter the curvature. In recent years, panels have improved their ability to handle more precise curves, with some reaching as low as 800R (the “R” stands for radius).

The curvature of this panel is 1,800mm or 1800R. (If enough AW3423DWF monitors were arranged edge to edge to form a circle, the radius would be 1,800mm or 1.8 meters.)) The screen appears larger thanks to the curvature, which also reduces glare and produces darker-than-expected blacks. Although it has a less noticeable curve than some contemporary gaming monitors (such as the Corsair Xeneon Flex’s 800R curve), it doesn’t prevent the screen from seeming brilliant when in use, as it did with the previous model.

Looking at the monitor’s design, it has a screen with an incredibly tiny bezel and a very strong V-shaped stand. Turning it over reveals the same Alienware RGB lighting and ventilation as the earlier model, which wraps around the back of the display. The gap at the bottom of the monitor stand’s quick-release button makes it simple to remove the monitor for VESA mounting, and it also helps to conceal cables from view.

One USB-A port, one USB-B port, two DisplayPort connectors, and one HDMI port are visible when the rear panel is removed. Test For The Alienware Excellent Overall Results

Your gaming experience will almost certainly be enhanced by OLED screens, but how much? To quantify the results and compare them to displays of comparable size and resolution, we run a few benchmark tests using the CalMAN monitor calibration software, a Murideo Six-G signal generator, and a Klein K-80 colorimeter. Except as otherwise noted, we leave displays on their default settings.

We first test the monitor using an SDR signal in its default picture mode. The brightness and black level of the AW3423DWF were 329 nits and 0, respectively. In contrast to IPS, VA, or TN panels, OLED is renowned for its “true blacks,” in which the pixel completely turns off. This results in a zero-light zone and higher picture contrast.
